Daphne Couple Accused of Hosting Illegal Open House Parties

DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) — A husband and wife in Daphne are facing charges for allegedly hosting house parties where underage teenagers were allowed to drink alcohol.

Edward and Sherae McMurphy have each been charged with two misdemeanor counts of illegal open house party, according to Daphne Police.

Investigators say two birthday parties took place at their home on the nights of December 1, 2017 and December 2, 2017.

Between those two parties, Daphne Police say up to twenty underage teenagers were present and allowed to drink alcohol.

The couple participated in drinking games with the teens, according to Capt. Jud Beedy with Daphne Police.

Police began their investigation after a school resource officer heard students talking about the parties.
