BREAKING: Corrections Officer Assaulted At Brewton Jail

BREWTON, AL (WKRG) A corrections officer is recovering after being attacked at the Escambia County Detention Center.
The 19-year-old officer was assaulted during dinner on Saturday by three inmates, according to Escambia County Chief Deputy Mike Lambert.
Other officers who witnessed the attack jumped in to help. A riot team was dispatched into the facility to restrain the inmates, who are now being held in isolation, Lambert said.
The injured officer suffered injuries to his face including a fractured nose. He was taken to the hospital in Brewton.
Investigators will meet with the District Attorney today to discuss additional charges against the inmates.
