UPDATE: New details released in Mobile's first homicide of 2018

UPDATE 1/3/2018: Mobile Police have identified the victim, 32-year-old Mercedes Jackson, who was pronounced dead at the scene with a gunshot wound.


UPDATE 1/2/2018: MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG)- Neighbors and friends tell News 5 the 32-year old woman killed in Mobile's first homicide of 2018 on Tuesday was a mother.

Mobile Police did process two crime scenes.

We're told the shooting happened on Delta Street and Linwood Drive Tuesday afternoon.

A tow truck transported the victim's car around 7:30 Tuesday evening, shortly after her body was taken in an ambulance.

"It's heartbreaking. It's you know, it's just not a good feeling to be on either end. It's sad that both families are having to endure this tragedy so early in the new year," said Tara Steele, a neighbor of the victim.

Investigators have not released the name of the victim.

MOBILE, AL (WKRG) -- A woman has been shot and killed on a residential street in Mobile, police confirm to News 5.

The shooting is believed to have occurred sometime between 4:00 and 4:30 on West Gulf Field Drive in Mobile, not far from Interstate-10.

Mobile Police tell News 5 the victim is a 32-year-old black female.  Mobile Police have launched their first homicide investigation of 2018.

A second crime scene has been established at Delta Street and Linwood Drive, right around the corner from the reported homicide scene.
