UPDATE: Man Arrested for Murder at Shotgun Willie's Bar in Mobile

WKRG STAFF - UPDATE (6:44 p.m.) -- On Tuesday, June 20 Mobile Police responded to Shotgun Willies, 2605 Halls Mill Road, for a report of a male with multiple gunshot wounds.

Jeremy Scott Smith, the victim, worked as a security guard at Shotgun Willies.  His death was determined to be a homicide.

According to the Mobile Police Department, homicide investigators connected Dewayne Wheat to the incident. Wheat is charged with murder.

UPDATE (4 p.m.) - Less than 24 hours after a murder at Shotgun Willie's bar, Mobile Police have arrested a man and charged him with murder.

35-year-old Dewayne Wheat was arrested Tuesday after the deadly shooting outside the bar early Tuesday morning.

According to police, the victim was identified as 40-year-old Jeremy Scott Smith and he worked as a security guard for the bar. News will continue to look into the case and post updates when available.

MOBILE, AL (WKRG) - Mobile Police are investigating a homicide at Shotgun Willie's on Halls Mill Road just blocks away from the Navco Community Outreach Center.

An employee at the bar told News 5 that a man was killed in the parking lot.  The employee said the victim, who he did not identify, had been involved in a bar fight earlier in the night and was kicked out of the bar.

Homicide investigators were at the scene when News 5 arrived.  We've reached out to Mobile Police for more information but our calls have not been returned.
