Kentucky School Shooting: 14 students shot, 2 dead

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin says 19 people were treated for injuries. Fourteen of the victims suffered gunshot wounds. Two of the victims have died, a 15-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy. The suspect, a 15-year-old boy, is in custody. All of the victims are believed to be students.


Law enforcement in Kentucky is investigating a deadly shooting Tuesday morning at a high school in Marshall County, according to WKRN-TV.

At least one person is dead and multiple people are injured after the gunman opened fire at Marshall County High School in Benton. 

The shooter at the high school has been apprehended and the situation is no longer active according to law enforcement. 

The school is currently on lockdown while authorities process the scene.

The condition and ages of the wounded was not immediately known.

This is a developing situation and more information will be released by law enforcement. 

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin addressed the shooting on Twitter saying, "Tragic shooting at Marshall County HS...Shooter is in custody, one confirmed fatality, multiple others wounded...Much yet unknown...Please do not speculate or spread hearsay...Let’s let the first responders do their job and be grateful that they are there to do it for us..."

The community is about 120 miles northwest of Nashville, Tennessee.
