BREAKING: One Dead in Police Involved Shooting On Interstate 10

Mobile Public Safety Director James Barber confirms to News 5 that one person is dead following a vehicle accident Sunday Night on I-10 that stemmed from an altercation involving two individuals inside the same vehicle traveling Westbound.

According to witnesses the vehicle began to swerve in the roadway before crashing.

Barber says police arrived to the accident and deemed the situation unsafe prompting police to warn the male victim inside the car several times to "calm down" or they would have to use force.

Police were forced to fire shots at the victim.

An autopsy will determine if the the crash killed the male victim or the shooting.

The condition of the other victim involved in the altercation and crash is unknown at this time.

Witnesses say a shooting may have preceded a wreck that has tied up traffic on Westbound Interstate 10 just West the DIP exit.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) -- An accident involving at least three vehicles is causing delays on Dauphin Island Parkway near I-10 and I-65.

The accident occurred just west of the Dauphin Island Parkway.

One of the three vehicles is upside down in the median. Traffic is down to one lane.
