UPDATE: Authorities Release Details Regarding Missing Child Found Dead

UPDATE

On Sunday October 22 around 6:15 p.m. a missing child alert was issued for 3-year old Amari Harley.

Assistant Chief Scott Dingee says at approximately 4:43 p.m. October 22 officers were dispatched to Bruce Park at 6549 Arlington Road in response to a missing child.  It appears Amari was playing at a family gathering when family members noticed he was missing. Family began to search for him but were unable to locate him.  Patrol officers with the Jacksonville Police began a search for the boy.

According to Dingee, around 7:15 p.m. a body was found inside a "water holding tank located underground inside the park."   The body is believed to be that of 3-year old Amari Harley.

The case is active and "all options are on the table" says Dingee.

Over 50 officers assisted in the search.


MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) -- A Missing Child Alert has been issued for 3-year old, Amari Harley.

According to a press release, he was "last seen in the area of the 6500 block of Arlington Road in Jacksonville, who was last seen wearing a black Star Wars Darth Vader t-shirt, black shorts and black and gold shoes. Amari has two moles under his bottom lip, one on each side, and a short hair cut. A candy apple green vehicle may be involved in Amari's disappearance."

He is described as a black male with black hair and brown eyes.  He is 3 feet tall and weighs 30 pounds.
