Elberta, AL (WKRG) -- Law Enforcement has made an arrest in an overnight homicide in Elberta.
Around 11:30 p.m. Elberta Police responded to a home on Schoen Road and said they found 57-year-old Gregory David Buck sitting in the front yard. Buck claimed he shot his roommate according to a BCSO news release.
Inside the trailer, police found 43-year-old, Jacob Scott O'Bryan dead from a shotgun blast to the chest.
Both men had been drinking and got into an argument according to the news release. The incident stunned the normally quiet community of Elberta.
"Oh man, just one red light, busy 98 going through here, other than that it's peace and quiet all the time, other than some tractors that's all the excitement we get," said Elberta resident Carl Jackson. Officials believe this is the first murder Elberta has seen in roughly a decade.
"Rural America isn't exempt from these things that are going on it's kind of crazy it's kind of scary a lot of my friends I never thought would are buying guns," said Ken Hagan as he waited for a friend at an Elberta gas station.
Gregory Buck was arrested, charged with murder and is being held under a $50,000 bond in the Baldwin County Correction Center.
