Record meth bust made during I-10 traffic stop in Baldwin County

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) - A traffic stop on Interstate 10 this week led to a record drug bust for the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.

On Wednesday, sheriff's officials discovered 115 pounds of crystal meth, also known as ice, after they stopped a Ford F150 that was pulling a flatbed trailer. They found the drugs hidden inside hollowed-out batteries in two golf carts on the trailer.

The drugs are worth an estimated $3 million, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators said the drugs were on their way from Texas to Florida.

Donald Scott Sells was arrested and charged with drug trafficking. Investigators said his 15-year-old son was also in the vehicle. The son was arrested on a marijuana possession charge.

Over the past few months, Baldwin County has developed quite a reputation for these kinds of drug busts, including similar meth busts on I-10 in January and February.
