Police in Bay Minette are investigating a shooting and a hit and run.
Bay Minette Police say around 5:54 p.m. two adult black males began arguing over a female at the Victor Food Mart Inc off U.S. 31 in Bay Minette.
Both men pulled guns on one another when one man shot the other in the wrist, police say.
According to police, the man who shot the victim then chased him across W. Ellis Street to the ABC Store. At the same time, there was a man being chased by a white SUV. That man was chased behind the ABC Store and onto Highway 31 where he was run over.
The man who was shot in the wrist and the person hit by a car was transported to USA Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Police say both weapons have been recovered.
Police believe the driver of the vehicle who ran over a man did so intentionally and is connected in some way to the shooting. That suspect is still on the loose.
“When I arrived here there was probably over 100 people stretched out between the ABC Store and V&B food mart," says Chief Al Torbert. "There were numerous people spectating, witnesses and some involved. So at this time, we are still sorting through that to figure out who played a part and what involvement they had in this incident.”
Police say the shooting suspect is in custody, but need the public's help identifying the driver of the white SUV.
