UPDATE: Orange Beach homicide victim identified

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) - UPDATE 3/25 3:40 p.m. Orange Beach police held a press conference Sunday afternoon to release new details regarding the homicide.  

Police say an arrest has been made in the case and the victim, Raymond Curtis Dudley, and the suspect knew were acquainted with one another. The two also worked together at one point. 

UPDATE 3/23 3:12- Orange Beach police have identified the victim in a homicide investigation that started Thursday. 

The man found dead at the canoe trail launch at Cypress Street and West Perdido Ave is identified as 53-year-old Raymond Curtis Dudley, according to police. 

Police say Dudley was homeless and originally from the state of Massachusetts. He was also a registered sex offender, police say. 

Dudley has four counts of first-degree sexual abuse against two 9-year-old boys according to the ALEA sex offender database.

Orange Beach police ask that anyone that may have had contact with, or information concerning, Mr. Dudley on the evening of March 21,2 018 to please contact the Orange Beach Police Department with any information they may have no matter how small they may think it is at 251-981-9777.

 

 

ORIGINAL: A homicide investigation is underway after a body was found Thursday morning. 

Orange Beach Police say the body was found near Wolf Bay off Canal Road after officers and Orange Beach Fire responded to a call about an unresponsive person on the ground. 

Police say the victim is a white male in his 50's with an apparent gunshot wound found at the canoe trail launch at Cypress Street and West Perdido Ave.

Sources tell News Five it is an obvious homicide but wouldn't say how the person was killed.

This is the first homicide in Orange Beach since 2012.
