Daphne Man Charged With Impersonating an Officer

SPANISH FORT, Ala. (WKRG) -

A high-speed chase and crash Tuesday night in Spanish Fort has landed a Daphne man behind bars for impersonating a police officer, among other charges.

Spanish Fort Police Chief David Edgar says the arrest of Dean Randall Kelly Jr. started as a traffic stop. As the officer approached Kelly's car, he took off and led police on a three-mile chase that ended in a crash on Jimmy Faulkner Drive.

Investigators recovered a bullet proof vest, a handgun, drug paraphernalia and flashing blue lights.

Kelly is currently being held in the Baldwin County jail.
