Baldwin County holds free flu shot clinic, more planned

Free flu shot clinic Friday in Baldwin County

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. (WKRG) - A steady stream of clients from across Baldwin County took advantage of free flu shots at the state health department office in Robertsdale.

A little shot can make a big difference in a flu season that has been declared an emergency by state health professionals.

An ample supply of the vaccine was available for free Friday in Baldwin and 32 other counties across Alabama.

It's been ten years since Bob McArthur from Gulf Shores had a flu shot.  "Reading all the stories about people dying, I figure it's time."  He says with a free clinic, there was no reason not to.  "And what I'm hoping that if I do get sick, the symptoms won't be near as severe as not having one.  So, I think it's time and I did it."

Seven out of 8 health districts across the state are on the front lines of the battle against the flu.  The message from health professionals is simple and clear.  It's not too late, to vaccinate.
