Baldwin County Art For Heart Gala is a huge success

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) - The Orange Beach home of John and Shelly McInnis served as the perfect venue for the 26th annual Baldwin Art For Heart Gala.  The sounds of live entertainment filled the home as did beautiful artwork and items donated by local artists and businesses to be auctioned with the proceeds going to the American Heart Association.

The Face of Heart for this year's gala was 1-year-old Otto Wilburn.  Otto was born with multiple heart defects and he underwent open heart surgery at just seven days old.
Now, Otto has a bright future ahead of him thanks in part to research funded by the American Heart Association.

"These types of events are why he is here. The advances in medical research over the past 20 years, that's the only reason why he is with us today. So we definitely are very happy to be here and to be able to give back," said William Wilburn, Otto's father.

Otto, who attended the gala with his parents, stole the show during the live auction grabbing the microphone of the auctioneer, Kevin Corcoran, who co-emceed the event with WKRG's Rose Ann Haven.  WKRG was the official media sponsor for the gala.

Otto captured the hearts of bidders who generously donated to the American Heart Association.   The community efforts raised more than 227-thousand dollars.

"Thank you for everything. Every prayer, every donation, every sacrifice of time, money and effort. It goes a long way," said Melissa Wilburn, Otto's mother.
