Woods Fire Burns Near Airport

It was a scary Sunday afternoon in West Mobile as a large brush fire burned next to Mobile Regional Airport.- Mobile Fire Rescue officials say at least one hundred acres burnedto the ground.- Afternoon skies darkened as the sun turned red from the thick smoke.- Dozens of volunteers went into the woods toprevent the fire from spreading.- At one point, fire and rescue crews brought in a bull dozer to plow a fire line.-- Many people stopped on Tanner Williams Road to watch the flames burn down hundreds of trees.- "It was very small at first and then now I come back about ten minutes later and it was just everywhere.- We asked one person watching the fire what they thought of the situation.-- -"I'm scared."- said Tiffany Liedtke, a resident of Mobile .- Despite the thick smoke, planes continued to land.- Mobile Fire Rescue officials say the airport never shut down and was never in danger.- The cause of the brush fire is still under investigation.
