To most people this is just a pile of rocks. But to Evelyn Nelson it is nothing short of a miracle. Nelson says just after Hurricane Katrina her husband caught this pitch rock while shrimping in the Gulf.
"He found this. This is where he has always drugg all his life. But this was there. So he picks it up and he brings it home to me." Said, Evelyn Nelson, Coden Resident.
Nelson was about to place the rocks in her garden when she says she made the discovery. The rock began to break apart and off came a piece which she says bore a striking resemblance to Jesus.
Nelson says she knows to some people her story may sound far fetched. But in order to come forward with her story, she says it was worth the risk.
"People could laugh I don't care. That's my rock. This is my rock. And that's my rock that I'm going to hold on to." Said, Nelson.
This is the second Gulf Resident to discover the image of Jesus this year. In April a Mobile couple said the image of Jesus appeared to them on their chest of drawers.
