pregnancy in order to dupe several agencies out of thousands of
dollars is sitting behind bars.
Deputies say Shawanda Butler sought the help of adoption
agencies in Sebring and in Marion County. They offered Butler over
six thousand dollars to help her with rent, medical bills and
electric bills.
But when representatives from the Little Angels of America went
to check up on the 24-year-old at her home, they say she refused to
show them her pregnant stomach. Instead, she went inside a bedroom
and stuffed her stomach with a pillow.
It's not known whether or not she was ever pregnant, but
deputies say Butler faces charges of organized fraud.
