Volunteer firefighters had their hands full in Rabun on Sunday afternoon. Wildfires were threatening several homes. The flames spread quickly, but the people fighting the fire were faster. Crews eventually got the fire under control, but not before it burned nearly a hundred acres. At times, the fire inched dangerously close to some houses. Fires have been popping up across Baldwin and Mobile counties. Dealing with so many fires is a hot problem for volunteers. "It's been pretty bad, the past two Wednesdays we've fought pretty heavy, this past Wednesday we were lucky, and we missed it. But we got one today." That's according to Aubrey Paul, a volunteer firefighter with the Rabun Fire Department. Firefighters say because of dry conditions, if you don't need to burn, don't. But if you are, keep a close eye on the fire.
