BAGHDAD (AP) - September had the lowest number of U.S. military
deaths in Iraq since July 2006, according to the military and a
count by The Associated Press.
Sixty-three service members were killed last month, including
one who died yesterday during combat operations in Baghdad.
A military spokesman says the number is still too high, but that
the trend is moving in the right direction.
An AP count shows that at least 3,804 U.S. troops have been
killed since the war started in March 2003.
