"We'll be up here rain or shine," says Sally Deane. "It's hot up here but it's for a worthy cause."
The group hopes to raise the money in 72 hours.
"I'm working the nightshift," says volunteer Kim Green. "I'll be up here from eight at night until six in the morning! I just hope people will come by, no matter how late, and donate money!"
Electric bills for some families have been as high as 300 and 400 dollars.
"August was a record-breaker," says Deane. "Families on fixed incomes just can't afford the bills right now."
Ecumenical Ministries is located on Fairhope Avenue near downtown Fairhope. For more information on the rooftop fundraiser, call 928-3430.
