Citizens and police are clashing in New Orleans during violent protests over public housing. Police are using chemical sprays and stun guns in order to beat back protestors who are trying to force their way into City Hall.
Demonstrators are angry over the city council's decision to consider demolishing dozens of old housing projects to make way for the development of new, mixed-income neighborhoods.
The New Orleans Department of Housing and Urban Development says that the old housing projects were decrepit and crime-ridden, while the new development plan will place people in new and better homes.
Critics, however, say the plan is discriminatory, provides less housing for low-income residents, and will increase homelessness.
More than 50 demonstrators are protesting outside city hall, and many are pushing at the gates in front of the building.
One woman who was sprayed by authorities had to be taken away on a stretcher by emergency workers.

I had a lot of questions as to why things are the way they are. Why the huge crevasse between the haves and the have nots. Why those who are the minority in population control the poorest majority. Contrary to popular belief it has nothing to do with hard work or race or anything of the sort. I had many, not all , but many of my questions answered by downloading for free the movie that was banned by United Artist theaters, and was refused to be carried by Blockbuster. the movie is America Freedom to Fascism by Aaron Russo. You can download it for free on google or you tube. Its about an hour and 51 mins and worth every second of it. It answers questions you have always had but weren’t able to quite form the words to ask. It blows the lid off of New Orleans and FEMA and the IRS. the government’s dirty lil’ secret. You all might want to look at http://www.gregpalast.com and go to I have Karl Rove’s emails. See why the Atty: General fired 9 Fed prosecutors and then resigned.Vote caging!?vivache

It is always in the holiday season when people are told to get out of thier homes.  Middle of the winter, you can not help but wonder who is in charge of this situation.  Let us get christ back in christmas before we all are living on the street.  Remember there are 300 billion people who’s homes were foreclosed on this year.

Yeah, that is the way to fix things, turn to violence. They should not have voted to put Nagin back in office. I have no sympathy for those protestors. Where is Al and Jesse? Bet they will not stage a mrach against Nagin. The only way they would do that is if it was a white mayor.
