his sentence this morning for bankrolling a Virginia dogfighting
ring.
A federal judge in Richmond could give him up to five years in
prison, although sentencing guidelines suggest a year to 18 months.
Two of Vick's co-defendants got 18 months and 21 months, slightly
more than prosecutors had recommended.
Vick's sentencing could be influenced by a number of factors,
including his financing of the operation, a positive drug test in
September which got him a curfew and electronic monitoring, and his
admission that he helped kill as many as eight pit bulls. But he's
also been cooperating and he's voluntarily begun serving prison
time.
The court says the sentencing hearing is expected to last two to
four hours. It's not known if Vick will make a statement.
