Earlier this month, the school sent notices to those living in 19 homes in the Hillsdale community.
Some students contacted News Five saying they felt like they were being forced out of their homes without much notice.
A spokesperson said that the housing department actually warned students about the possibility of having to leave years ago.
"Five years ago we had 700 houses in Hillsdale. Now we're down to about 150 houses. So this is not something that started suddenly. This is just something that we've been gradually doing over the last five years. So it's not a sudden movement it was approved by our board of trustees in 2004, I believe," said University of South Alabama spokesperson Keith Ayers.
USA says it is getting out of the single family housing rental business. Eventually all the u-s-a rental homes will be torn down.
News Five has also learned that once the homes are torn down, the land will be used for the new Jags football team field house and storage facility.

AL Needs More Aid For Katrina Recovery

CMB1: Why the heck would I date a freeloader? If you’ve read my posts I’m obviously WAY too much of a penny pincher to ever let anyone have a dime! He works 2 jobs, and takes more classes each semester than I do. We don’t live in the Grove because who in their right mind would live in a HORRIBLY CONSTRUCTED 2 bedroom apartment for $930/month??? We could get a swank studio at The Towers on Ryan Park for that!!!!!
