University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been shot and
killed in a residential neighborhood.
Police say that 22-year-old Eve Marie Carson was found dead in a
street Wednesday. Neighbors had reported hearing shots at about 5
a.m.
Police spokesman Lt. Kevin Gunter has told The News & Observer
of Raleigh that Carson had been shot several times, at least once
in the head. Officials say there are no suspects and no arrests
have been made.
Carson was a senior at the university. She was from Athens, Ga.
Gunter says police were looking for Carson's vehicle. It is a
blue 2005 Toyota Highlander with Georgia plates.
The university has scheduled a memorial for Carson on Thursday
afternoon.
