"They splattered paint. They smashed and bashed computers and other technology. It was a big mess," says school spokesman Terry Wilhite.
Foley Police Corporal Matt Cuellar says it was some of the worse vandalism he's ever seen, "Windows broken they actually did damage to the ceiling tiles. The junior hall of the high school every room had some damage mainly the computer lab which was just devastated."
Significant damage was done at the school particularly in the computer lab where as many as 30 computers were destroyed says Wilhite. "Any time you can go into a school and smash and bash the technology lab you're talking big money very quickly and that's what happened."
Police say the two boys arrested confessed to the vandalism and an earlier break in at the ball field. Their names are not being released because of their age but what may be even more surprising that what they did is why they did it according to Cuellar. "Just bored, nothing to do. They actually said they tried to break in the high school before but couldn't get in. Spring break nothing to do and that's the best they could come up with."
The teenagers were taken into custody late this afternoon. Police won't say if they are students at the high school only that they are students of the Baldwin County school system.
