Investigators from the Mobile Police Department's Robbery Unit have arrested two teenagers wanted in connection with nine motel robberies within the past three weeks. They are also looking for one more suspect.

19-year-old Christopher Laffitte and 18-year-old William McMillan (see photos) were both arrested over the weekend and charged with five counts of First Degree Robbery. Police say the two teens have been holding up victims at area motels.

According to investigators, two of the three men would hold up their victims at gunpoint inside their motel rooms. They would demand money and belongings and then run.

Laffitte was arrested during a traffic stop near the Super 8 Motel on Moffett Road. Police say that's where one of the robberies took place. That led police to McMillan, and he was arrested at his home.

Police say these two teens may be responsible for as many as 9 motel robberies, including hold-ups at the Motel 6 and America's Best Value Inn on the West I-65 Service Road as well as the Rest Inn on Government Blvd.

Police could not find their third suspect, 28-year-old Frank Howard, this weekend. Anyone information can call the Mobile Police Department at 208-7211 or Crimestoppers at 208-7000.

Nah...much easier to let them out...and cheaper too...besides, they are just “misunderstood”...they are not commiting “serious” crimes...yet. It’s just robbery...I mean come on...EVERYBODY commits robbery… Life is so much harder for them...it’s just not fair that they should have to go out and get a job. Please, won’t you have sympathy on them? Come on, where is your compassion? The system is failing them...yeah, that’s it...they are not being properly “rehabilitated” in jail...yes, let’s blame the system… The SYSTEM is making them rob people...Now it all makes sense! It’s so hard for a criminal to make a living these days...I mean, with being locked up in jail or prison...How in the world can they rob, murder, rape, and defile if they are locked up behind bars? What is wrong with all of the decent people that want to keep them locked up? Thats just mean...locking up those poor helpless criminals. We should all be ashamed for wanting to better our communities and society…

Wonder if these guys were out on bond?  Seems like if we actually held crooks in jail we might actually do something to stop crime.  I know that seems like a crazy idea but lets try it out and see if it works.
