TVT for Stress Urinary Incontinence

Imagine fearing a good laugh or worrying about a sneeze or a cough.  Millions of women do because they suffer from something called stress urinary incontinence.  Often times, they don't ask for help because they're embarrassed or just don't think there's help out there.  There is help.  In fact, a five minute outpatient procedure is helping women regain their freedom.

Laura Cotter suffers from SUI for a year before talking to her doctor.  "Basically when I coughed or sneezed, there was leakage."

Gynecologist Dr. Robert Brown says SUI is very common.  Brown adds, "And probably more common that we know because people are embarrassed about saying anything about it."  He goes on to say, "People live in misery.  They can't go to the grocery story.  They can't do anything that they normally do without worrying about leaking when they cough and sneeze."

For many women, the trans-vaginal tape procedure or TVT can end the problem.  It's a 5 minute outpatient procedure that involves a tiny incision and a small piece of mesh tape.

Dr. Brown says, "What it does is it decreases the caliber, or the diameter of the urethra.  If the urethra was wide open, we're making it smaller, smaller so that it doesn't leak."

TVT has a 90 percent success rate.  It certainly helped Laura Cotter.  She went in for the procedure on a Friday and was back to her exercise class on Monday. "I don't have to worry about sneezing or coughing, or when I'm laughing. It's just taken care of. "

This procedure isn't recommended for women who want to have more children.  For more information, go to www.gynecare.com

Are you kidding? 5 minutes and you are all better.

Do not have the surgery. Wear a pad. Don’t destroy your life with the mesh and the “5 Minute Outpatient Procedure”.

The Gynecare TVT device almost killed me and has been INSIDE of my bladder for over 5 years.

I filed a lawsuit against Ethicon, Inc, a Johnson & Johnson company.

Case #06-21116-Civ-Ungaro-Benages in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

My case is the first and there will be many more to follow…
