Independent truckers across the country have found different ways to protest the soaring costs of diesel fuel today.
In New England, hundreds of truckers gathered at the Vince Lombardi service area in Bergen Co., New Jersey.
The held up signs and chanted that they are not getting paid enough. Man truckers say that they have to absorb the costs of fuel themselves.
In Chicago, truckers parked their rigs on the side of Interstate 55, risking a $75 fine for impeding traffic.
Diesel fuel has risen over $4.00 on average across the country.

I think the government should change the amount that they tax everyone on gas.  Instead of giving everybody a check for a couple of hundred dollars cut the amount taxed per gallon and that would really help out.  They give these big oil companies tax breaks and they still have record profits.  What about all of the citizens that go to work each and every day, don’t we deserve a tax break as well?

This issue with our steadily rising fuel cost is completely insaine as far as I am concerned. This country can be self supportive if we make it that way and become less dependent on these arabic nations, whom are getting rich from our spending to them. They have oil, we need it, it’s that simple! Jack up the price, hey the Americans will pay it, we will make money, the big oil companies will make money, everyone in this industry wins, except the consumers whom have to buy it at their rediculous prices in order to transport products, freight, go to work, etc. Salaries surely didn’t go up to match the fuel prices, how do you get to work if you cannot afford to buy the gasoline or diesel to run your vehichle?
This country needs to become self supportive, grow our own food, cattle, etc. We should also begine drilling everywhere oil has been located, land or sea, doesn’t matter, just do it and quit blowing smoke up everyones rearends.

The price of everything that the truckers bring across the country soars higher and higher and they make no more money. After awhile they face the possibility of losing the very thing that allows them to earn a living and to support their families. When the truckers are no longer running because they lost everything. Then maybe this nation will wake up and pay attention. There would be no gas to buy and no groceries either. we need to start to apperciate them and help as much as we can.
