Mobile County Juvenile Judge Edmond Naman promises to crack down on school truancy.

Last month he issued 30 warrants for parents who are not sending their children to school.

Judge Naman says he wants to make sure every child in Mobile County graduates high school.

He says in some of the cases that come before him -- parents are either lazy or they just don't discipline their children.

But if kids miss school for any reason, Judge Naman says parents will have some explaining to do.

"Parents who have taken no interest in the life of their children or their lives of their education for their children are going to be, if it's proven, punished for that. Because I truly believe that they are -- I use the analogy -- they are starving their children much the same way as if they wouldn't feed their child," said Mobile County Juvenile Judge Edmond Naman.

According to Mobile County Public schools -- there have been 600 truancies so far this year. 150 of them were sent to court.
