For more than a week customers haven't had garbage pick-up service.
The reason is because the contract with Waste Management expired in January even though it continued to pick up garbage until last week.
Mayor Stan Wright said he was busy with other things going on in the city that the expired contract slipped past him.
He said when he submitted a new contract, waste management rejected it because of a service agreement dispute.
Some customers told News Five, they still want their garbage picked up.
"They should've let the people know what was going on sooner so we could've been prepared for it. They should've like gone on and renewed their contract with Waste Management or somebody else. There's dogs and stuff 'round here that get in the trash they'll have it if it piles up too much they're going to be dragging it out everywhere and that will be a problem," said Bayou La Batre resident Julie Seaman.
Mayor Stan Wright told News Five that bids are coming in for a new garbage service contract.
The city plans to have something finalized by Monday night during a meeting at City Hall.
