Carl, I guess that’s the whole problem in a nutshell - seeing it as a “strange male in the next stall.” That’s not how the transgendered person sees herself at all. Think about how that American woman would feel if she’d been forced to use men’s restrooms her whole life and you might begin to understand what effect this ordinance could have on the lives of the transgendered.
40 years ago ,i was in the far east and most of their rest rooms were for male and female.I didn’t feel real comfortable about it and i was a young male. For american women it must be really uncomfortable to think a strange male might be sitting in the next stall.
Yes, “we” are human beings. Missknowitall, you’re not getting co-ed restrooms. You aren’t going to be sharing them with anyone dressed as, behaving as, or thinking of themselves as men any more now than you were before; that’s what “transgendered” means after all. So this new ordinance changes nothing for you. Please think and maybe try to put yourself in the other person’s shoes before you make such insensitive comments. Mercedes, thank you for your tolerant attitude; I think if you got to know an actual transgendered person you might even go past tolerant all the way to sympathetic.
Oh come on now, the chances of even running into one is very remote, and you don’t even have to look at them if you don’t want to. They are human Beings after all.
Well, I am NOT confused. I do not want a co-ed restroom. Ewwww
Who cares, they keep to themselves.

Why is it that only the male to female transgendered persons get to feel violated?
There are quite a few female to male transgendered persons out in the world too. [just jealous that they seem to attract less attention]
YES! I am transgendered...... BIG DEAL! Can’t help that I look like Bigfoot in a dress. *laughs
There would be a lot more trouble with me using the Men’s room as opposed the using the Woman’s room.
