Riviera Utility field crews repaired lightning damaged transmission lines Saturday night and put thousands of
Eastern Shore customers back on line. Some residents who contacted News Five to check on the
progress of the repairs said they had been off line for several hours. Back up generators kicked in,
and people said it was a good test of emergency storm procedures, to make certain that everything
is in place in the event of an extended outage, such as those that typically occur during a hurricane.
Fairhope, Daphne, Loxley, and other areas of Baldwin County were affected, although the largest
number of outages occured in the Daphne area.
