but in some cases, a gun is the safest option.
Sergeant Terry Taylor said deputies don't like to fire their guns on a suspect but when their own life is in jeopardy they have less than a second to decide what type of force to use.
"If you're in a completely safe environment and you had the luxury of time then you may can sit down and come up with many strategies to address this situation. Then again, you may not. You may have only one option. But if you only have just a split second to make that decision then you've got to make that decision and begin to respond," said Mobile County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Terry Taylor.

A spokesperson said all uniformed deputies have one and they began carrying them four years ago.

I don’t think we can blame the “respect” issue on the government. It is a parents duty to teach their children. If people continue to live in this “project mentality” if you will, then that is what they are teaching their kids. Anyone can do better, they have to want to. There are plenty of people out there, that are poor, but work and teach their kids right from wrong. They teach them the consequences of their poor choices. There are also wealthy people who let their kids run rampant and get away with anything. Teaching respect begins as an infant. You teach a baby it is wrong to bite, etc. You teach a toddler not to hit. All of these are life lessons.
