Dozens of homes and buildings were damaged Friday in southern Middle Tennessee when a powerful line of storms rolled across the state. In Lawrence County, along the Alabama state line, the storm carved a path of destruction in Lawrenceburg. According to the Tennessee Emergency Agency, this was one of the hardest hit areas.

Officials say a possible tornado damaged at least 56 homes in that area. Trees were sent crashing into homes, cars and trailers were overturned, and more than 50 homes were damaged. At one home, the storm ripped off the roof and dropped it into the pool.

The damaging storms are believed to have spawned tornados in several other counties, including Giles and Dickson. At least five people were injured in Friday's storms. None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.

This latest storm front has flooded roads in Missouri, forced school closings in Arkansas and damaged dozens of homes in Texas.
