"We've arrested three juveniles and have charged them with multiple counts of theft," says Foley Police Chief David Wilson. "The three boys admitted to stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of property from businesses in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee."
The 17-year old high school students are accused of stealing the items then selling the property on eBay.
"One of the kids actually had a 24-thousand dollar check on him when we picked him up," says Investigator Eric Waldrep with the Foley Police Department. "He had stolen a Caterpillar excavator to a man in Wyoming. The buyer came to Baldwin County to pick up the item but we finally contacted him when he was in Kansas and told him the property was stolen and told him to come back and return it."
Detectives also say the boys stole a tanning bed and landscaping equipment from local businesses.
