Mike Ward with the Escambia County Sheriffs Office.  "The deputy searched the vehicle and recovered an amount of marijuana along with a small amount of cocaine inside the vehicle and numerous items of drug paraphernalia", said Ward.

Washingtonwas Jamal Williams basketball coach back in 2003.  "Coach Washington always looked out for us he helped steer us away from drugs that's why I don't do drugs now.  I remember Coach Washington and all his lectures and stuff."

Along with his legal problems Washington also has to be concerned about his status as a teacher with the Escambia County School system.  Currently he is on paid administrative leave but that could change at the next school board meeting says Deputy Superintendent Norm Ross.  "At the next board meeting if there's not been a clarification or disposition then the course of action would be to suspend without pay."
