OZARK, Ala. (AP) - Fifteen Carroll High School seniors accused
of causing $5,000 in damages by spray painting the school
have been sent to alternative school after being charged with
criminal mischief and trespassing.
Family members say the students should be able to walk during
graduation ceremonies. School officials took the privilege away
from the students as well as saying they could not attend prom or
other graduation activities.
The students stood before the Ozark City School Board Tuesday to
apologize. Ozark City Schools Superintendent Michael Lenhart said
he would meet with the parents later to discuss the possibility of
the students marching in ceremonies.
He said each student was punished based on the level of
involvement in the vandalism. Lenhart noted that the decision about
punishment was made by a panel.

Razor, did you misread what I said? Or are you arguing against everyone WITH me?

People are acting like they’re not going to receive diplomas or even the certificate of attendence because of it, not that just don’t get to do the FUN part.

IT"S THE PRINCIPLE people. They need to understand that there are ramifications for their actions....if they do something negative, there should be a negative consequence. Your sympathy is EXACTLY why they will continue to grow into degenerates. Don’t be so naive! I guess I was just raised differently. If I had done something like that in high school, my father would not have let me walk regardless of what the school said...he would have also taken away my vehicle and any other privelages I had...and then both of my parents would have given me their own version of community service. Kids today don’t need a mom and dad “best friend” figure....THEY NEED PARENTS who teach their kids right from wrong...good old fashioned TOUGH LOVE. So what if they are only going to get their “attendance certificate”...they should not be allowed to do it with the rest of their friends. The idea is that they will realize that if they do something wrong, then there will be punishment.

It’s not like they’re not going to get their diploma...that’s the only thing these hooligans *earned* if that. Heck, they might have been walking to get a “certificate of attendence,” or whatever they call the idiot diploma these days.

I think the kids should be able to walk at graduation. They earned it. I am not one of the parents. By no means am I condoning the act of vandalism, but, I think they should have to pay to clean it up or clean it up themselves. (gasp) Maybe community service. It also depends on the students past behaviors.

Because their “precious angels” would NEVER do anything wrong! Later on in life, these kids will become adults...and so, begins another generation of degenerates...rape, murder, robbery...you name it.

Why should they be allowed to attend these events or walk at graduation? These parents are crazy!
