MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Some adult stores aren't pulling
vibrators and similar devices from their shelves now that Alabama's
ban on the sale of sex toys has survived a legal challenge.
Instead, they are selling the products as medical or scientific
equipment.
The store owner who unsuccessfully challenged Alabama's ban --
Sherri Williams -- says she's posted signs in her Huntsville and
Decatur stores to explain how the items can be purchased legally.
She says the law allows sales if the items have a bona fide
medical, scientific, educational, legislative or judicial purpose.
Williams says she's not pulling any products off her shelves.
Signs are nothing new at the Love Stuff stores in Montgomery,
Hoover and Oxford. Alabama manager Ross Winner says the stores have
been informing customers about the exceptions in the law for
several years. He says customers also sign receipts showing they
are buying products as provided in the exceptions to the law.
The state attorney general's office isn't saying whether the
retail practices are legal. Spokesman Chris Bence says it's up to a
court to decide.

No toys??? That’s the only safe sex left in the world and Alabama is going to ban it in that state? Oh wow. I think there are bigger problems in Alabama then the sale of vibrators......

This law violates a host of civil rights, including ones guaranteeing free expression. It just yet another way for the goverment to control our lives and our homes. What’s next???
