NEW YORK (AP) - Roger Clemens is taking his former personal
trainer to court over allegations of steroid use.
The Houston Chronicle reports Clemens has filed a defamation
suit against former trainer Brian McNamee in Texas state court. The
paper says the filing was entered last night just before the CBS
broadcast of Clemens' interview with "60 Minutes."
The suit charges that McNamee knowingly lied when he accused
Clemens of using steroids and human growth hormone. McNamee is
contemplating a defamation suit against Clemens. The pitcher
reportedly asks in his suit that the court declare that he has not
defamed McNamee.
Clemens is scheduled to hold a news conference today in Houston.
Clemens told "60 Minutes" that he might be willing to take a
lie-detector test to clear his name. He maintains McNamee injected
him only with a vitamin and painkiller.
