Man wanted for robbing an Exxon in West Mobile was arrested when he ran into a police checkpoint.
Police say Greg King walked into the Exxon at 670 Schillinger Road on Saturday, asked for a carton of cigarettes and then told the clerk he was armed. The clerk ran out the back door and King jumped in his car and took off. But he didn't get far.
Police say King ran into a checkpoint where he was arrested. King was booked into Metro Jail on robbery charges.

Asda, you took the words right out of my mouth. You are MORE than correct, they shouldnt be assisting us with anything. Not only that, but the Gov’t can NOT take your license and prohibit you from driving without due cause. Kx I dont know how old you are or where you live, but you sound like a Socialist to me.

I read in the press registar today that they are doing more road blocks today.

And as for the Remark “The goverment will assist you with health care, housing, food, and bills, but they will not assist you with getting licensed or getting a car. “ Well the government should not be assisting you with anything.  If you read the Constitution none of the things you have listed are even mentioned and they were not even brought about until after 1900’s.

How is driving not a privilege? It’s not only a privilage, it’s a luxury!

The goverment will assist you with health care, housing, food, and bills, but they will not assist you with getting licensed or getting a car.

You must pay to take a permit test, to get a license, and to renew that license. You must pay for insurance and a tag.
And even though you buy your license, you buy your car, you pay for insurance, and a tag, the goverment can still take your license away and not allow you to drive.

Sound like a privilage to me!

As soon as you attack people instead of their opinions you lose all credibility and prove you lack the ability to comprehend the facts.

You bunch of morons you still don’t get it.  What rights are violated?  Probable cause for search and seisure is there if you are doing something illegal.  I hope they watch the neighborhoods.  We just had some move in ours that have all hours of activity day and night.  Probable cause?????????  I hope so.

If a roadblock is set up due to an Amber alert, does that make it okay? The police still may not know exactly who they are looking for but surely they will look at everyone with suspicion.

Yes, it just sets a bad precedent that could make us all vulnerable to some cop or politician with a vendetta.  For example, new Mayor John Doe is still angry at John Q. Citizen because he opposed him in the election.  Mayor John Doe then tells his Police Chief to go search John Doe’s house and sieve, all computers, guns, paper work, etc. and then go through all of it and try to make a case.  That is back assward and politically motivated.

An unlicensed driver that is obeying all the traffic laws is not an imminent danger to society.  He is just breaking a rule that might result in a fine.  Is it really justifiable to stop hundreds of people without cause and examine their vehicles in order to stop that one person?  I think not!

Thank you BamaBob. Not only that, but people have such short-sighted vision. They think “Well, if Im not doing anything wrong, who cares?” But what they do not realize is what that kind of “legal freedom” that would lead to. It is a Pandora’s Box. How do people not see that?

Some are missing the point and making this a personal issue!

We have constitutional rights for a reason.  One of those rights protects us from unlawful search and seizure.  Based upon your premise that anything is okay, if it gets one criminal off the street is a dangerous one.  That sort of thinking would allow for a police state in which no one would be protected from heavy handed law enforcement.

Once probable cause is taken out of the mixture the police could target people or whole subdivisions.  They could just take a list of addresses and start barging into homes demanding DL’s, registration, insurance cards, tax records, receipts for any merchandise in your home and then railroad your butt right into jail.

KxVx. You have no clue as to why the Constitution and laws were set up the way they are do you? Driving is not a privelege. You need mental help. If I wasnt at work, I would write pages and pages proving you wrong.
