Just one day old and tipping the scales at a combined seventeen pounds and one ounce, sisters Cierra and Cheyann Etheridge are a true bundle of joy.
"I love the fact that she has three or four chins," said the babies' mom, Samantha Etheridge.
The twins were born Tuesday just seven minutes apart. Cierra is the oldest weighing in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces. Then came Cheyann at 8 pounds, 11 ounces.
"The smaller one came out first and they thought she's such a big baby, she must be the big one. Then, the big one got here and everybody was like oh, she's so huge," Etheridge said. "I think everybody was just shocked."
The Etheridge babies are the biggest twins ever born at Providence Hospital. According to hospital records, the next biggest babies were born more than twenty years ago.
"As far back as 1985 we found a pair that weighed a little more than 8 pounds (each), but not quite the weight of Cierra and Cheyann," said Cindy McMillan, a nurse who has helped deliver babies for 27 years.
The babies were born just five days shy of full term, which nurses say is very uncommon for twins. Even more spectacular... the mother delivered the babies without a c-section.
The family expects to go home Thursday.

Good luck with those beautiful babies. I had twins in Mesquite Texas 12 years ago. They weighed 7.1 and 8.3, they were induced 5 days before the actual due date and were not delivered by c-section either. We all went home the next day. Twins are a blessing.

I was thinking the same thing.They look just like my little girl looked like at birth.BEAUTIFUL.My baby weighed 9.8. And I thought that was very hard and have not done it again. But almost 17 lbs between the 2. Congradulations mommy on two beautiful little angels.

Doubly blessed! When I saw them it was like seeing my daughter that age again! They are Beautiful! Congrats! Big brother please play nice, pay back could be pretty tough with two. Again, Congrats.
