Baldwin County voters will decide tomorrow who will fill the District 32 State Senate seat. Republican Trip Pittman or Democrat A.J. Cooper.
With less than 24 hours to go until the polls open, both candidates are still trying to win your vote. "I hope you'll consider voting for me. I'm planning too."
Months of campaigning all comes down to this. Who can make the lasting impression that will secure a spot in the Alabama state senate. Republican Trip Pittman, "I'm running cause I want to make a difference people don't often have the opportunity to vote for somebody outside the political arena." Or, Democrat A.J. Cooper, "Every single elected official in Baldwin County is a Republican and we need at least one Democrat in the legislature in Montgomery to bring home the bacon to Baldwin County."
Pittman and Cooper maybe running for different reasons but the issues they say are important to voters line up pretty evenly. Insurance, property taxes and immigration.
"You are a shareholder you own stock in the government of Baldwin County and this is your chance to vote your share of stock in the future of Baldwin County," says Fairhope attorney Cooper.
Pittman considers himself more of a newcomer to the political arena. "Someone who wants to change the way politics works getting elected without political action committee money we can go up there and represent Baldwin County first and foremost."
Both men have different approaches but they share a common interest; what's best for Baldwin County.
The long campaign is almost over the decision now goes to the voters who will be their voice in Montgomery for the next two years.
The senate seat was vacated when Bradley Byrne was named Chancellor of Alabama's two year college system.
