Mobile County Animal Control is asking for your help to catch the person who shot a puppy, shattered it's leg and set it on fire.
Animal Control Officers say the 7-month-old Shepherd-Hound mix was found on Jones Road in Theodore. The puppy's right front leg was shattered, from shoulder to paw. The same leg was also set on fire. Someone also shot the puppy's left front leg. On top of all that, the puppy was also starving.
Unfortunately, the puppy had to be euthanized today because it's injuries were too severe.
Mobile County Animal Control is looking for the puppy's owners and trying to catch whoever tortured it. If you have any information about this animal cruelty case, please give them a call at 251.574.3230.

honey i have no problems trying to save an animal but these people ar professionals and now what can and cannot be done to save an animal.  i have animals of my own and i know if someone tortured mine like that and the doctors told me the best thing was to put them down then i would do that to be humane to the animal.  you can think what you will about me and my (liberal) thinking but you bleeding hearts are the ones who are wrong with the laws.  oh dont put the poor puppy down he should have his leg cut off and suffer just to make you happy.  get over yourself.

You are SO WRONG KSJD. I do know how much it affects an animal. But to just put a puppy to sleep then post a photo like this is not only wrong but disgusting. I challenge your liberal thinking. I gave you the number, call them. You are what is wrong with the laws of animal abuse and cruelty. I would want you to stay off anyones high horse, you hypocrite!

YOU THINK JUST BECAUSE THEY AMPUTATE THE LEG THE DOG WILL NOT HAVE EMOTIONAL ISSUES.  You do not realize how much things like that effect an animal.  He was tortured.  He is better off now not suffering.  and as for the cage,  if you dont like the size and hwo it looks donate money to the SPCA then b/c they are a non-profit org. and they have to pay for everything out of what is donated.  so get off your high horse and give them money if you want these dogs to have bigger cages.

I agree that this puppy did not need to be put down! He could have been saved and the people who run the shelters know it; they just did not want to deal with it and that is heartless and cruel. Look at that cage they had him in! Not even a towel for the poor little thing to lay on! At least they are attempting to find out who did this horrible thing but we all know nothing will be done about it.

This puppy did not have to be put down. I know for a FACT that they could have amputated the leg and all he would have needed was some TLC! Call Escatawpa Animal Clinic at 228-475-8881 and ask them about Artichoke. SAME DARN THING!! Just goes to show you what type people there are running shelters.
