A former Fairhope mail carrier plead not guilty to 20 counts of mail theft and mail delay in federal court Wednesday. Therese Calloway is accused of stealing or holding over three-thousand pieces of mail while delivering on her route in the Point Clear area."I just couldn't believe it," says John Bennett. Bennett says he's one of the many postal customers who didn't receive their mail because it was stolen. "You trust the post office, you wave to your mailman everyday, there's a certain amount of trust there, that you'll get your mail, but in my case, that didn't happen."
Bennett says he received several late fees and disconnect notices from his utility company because he never received the original utility bill.
"I hope justice is served. I hope this doesn't happen to anybody else."
Calloway was fired from her job at the Fairhope Post Office. She'll stand trial in May.
