address to urge world leaders to find the "wisdom and courage" to
end bloody conflicts in Darfur, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Congo.
Benedict delivered his remarks from the balcony of St. Peter's
Basilica to an audience of thousands of people gathered below under
sunny skies.
He urged the crowd to rejoice over the celebration of Christ's
birth, which he hopes will bring consolation to all people "who

Benedict also offered Christmas greetings in English and dozens
of other languages.
