Pope Benedict has used the first public Mass
of his U.S. trip to talk about the clergy sex abuse scandal that
has plagued the American church. Speaking to thousands today at
Washington's new baseball stadium, Benedict called on parishioners
to help with healing, reconciliation and assistance to the victims.

The Vatican says that Pope Benedict XVI met
privately Thursday with victims of clergy sex abuse during his trip
to the United States.
The Rev. Federico Lombardi says that Benedict and Boston
Cardinal Sean O'Malley met with a small group of victims and
offered them encouragement and hope.
Lombardi, a papal spokesman, says the pope told victims that he
would pray for them, their families and all victims of clergy sex
abuse.

Why didn’t the church expose all the Priest involved in the sexual abuse cases?  They probably kept most of the Priest identity private and moved them to another distant parish.  I’ve worked within the Catholic system, they cover up under-handed events concerning anyone of importance to them or who is a high financial donor to the church.
