The 30 adult pit bulls confiscated from a Milton home as evidence in a dog fighting case were euthanized today. Unfortunately, despite medical intervention four of the five puppies seized died due to complications related to illnesses at the time of seizure. The remaining puppy had to be euthanized by county animal services staff due to the serious degree of illness. As supported by the Humane Society of the United States, Santa Rosa County does not adopt any animals that are suspected as being used for dog fighting as these dogs are selectively bred for aggression. The adoption of such dogs puts residents and their pets at risk for injury, and in some cases, death.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office arrested Raymond Teamer and two other men last week after a 7 month investigation. Deputies found more than 30 pit bulls on Teamer's property. The Sheriff's Office says Teamer bred "high dollar pit bulls" which were used for dog fighting.

I hope Teamer stays in jail. Perhaps the system will give him his just rewards for this awful crime.
