Alexis, her mom and baby sister were leaving their Brewton home one day. Her mother, Amber King started having a seizure and swerved into traffic. A log truck was right in front of them. Alexis admits it got a little hairy. "I thought it was gonna go around that's why I wasn't that scared. Then, when I saw it was coming straight towards us, I gotta really bad scared then." Mom swerved back and they landed safely on the side of the road.
But it's what happened next that made Alexis front page news. "I felt my momma's heart and I felt her pulse and she wasn’t' breathing." This pint sized paramedic says she learned all this on a medical show she watches with grandma. "I holded her nose and blew in her mouth. I did it like 8 times." Rescue workers had to assure her it was okay before she stopped. Amber was unconscious and doesn't remember a bit of it. "She was so brave. I'm so proud of her for that. Thank God we all had a guardian angel and we're all alright." Not bad for a 7-year old who wants to me a nurse one day!
Alexis says she likes to think of a saying that her first grade teacher told her last year. It goes, "if you can do 4+4, you can do a lot more."
