“Well they're fun and they can do a lot of tricks and they're entertaining,” says Melonee Bolton.
She’s recovering from a complicated case of spinal meningitis. The dogs give needed relief from a daily battery of tests and rehab. The dogs are certified through the Delta Society of America. It's a group that stresses the importance of pets and wellness. The dogs need a calm temperament around sick kids.
“It is a pleasure to know your dog brings some relief to the stress of the testing and things that a lot of the really sick kids have to do it's just a wonderful, wonderful thing to do,” says pet therapy volunteer Debbie Yeager.
While the children enjoy the visit Thursday's the best day of the week for many nurses and doctors.
“We see a lot of sick kids go through here and a lot of bad things happen so what the pets do is they just cheer up everybody,” says Doctor Guatam Malkani.








That is a wonderful way to cheer up the sick kids there!!! When my son was there they did that and that was all he talked about was the dogs!!! I think it is a GREAT idea!!!!
