PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) - A Florida Panhandle man is pledging a
kidney, not just his heart, to his fiancee.
William Burton met Shannon Pipes at a Winn-Dixie in Panama City
where they both worked. They had been planning a May 21st wedding,
but Pipes' health has been deteriorating as her only kidney started
failing.
Burton volunteered to be tested as an organ donor. The odds of
him being a match for Pipes were small, but doctors say he's a good
candidate for Pipes' transplant.
Burton says deciding to donate one of his kidneys to his
bride-to-be was a no-brainer. He says he wants his fiancee to have
a normal life without needing kidney dialysis.
The couple will undergo surgery on May fifth at an Alabama
hospital.

This is the perfect example of a couple becoming “ONE”.
